FTP Accounts
Learn about FTP accounts as well as about FTP in general - what they are and when you will need them.
FTP, which is an abbreviation for File Transfer Protocol, represents the most popular way to send files to a hosting account. Using an FTP client program that’s installed on your desktop PC or laptop, you can set up a connection to your hosting server and copy all of the files that you need with several mouse clicks. This is done via an easy-to-work-with GUI and it is as easy as dragging ‘n’ dropping the abovementioned files. The advantage of using FTP is that you can create several FTP accounts, each with a different level of access to your web space, so if you must provide a third party with access, for instance – a designer, they will be able to connect only to a particular folder and won’t be able to view the remaining content or any other information, including private details. Three prerequisites are compulsory in order to be able to make an FTP connection – a hostname, which is usually an IP or a domain name, a username and a password.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting
You can create as many FTP accounts as you want with any of the
Linux shared hosting that we offer, since we’ve chosen not to limit this functionality. Thus, you can manage multiple sites simultaneously or provide other individuals with access to separate directories. Once a given task has been done and you do not want that individual to be able to connect to your files any longer, you can modify the password associated with the FTP account in question or you can simply delete the account with several mouse clicks and quit worrying about anybody using it again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is offered with all shared web hosting plans, will allow you to check the full list of the existing FTP accounts listed alphabetically. It takes just one click of the mouse to manage different options for any of them – to edit the access path or the password, to download an auto-config file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers
You’ll be able to access your
semi-dedicated server account via FTP whatever the package that you’ve opted for on the order page, as the FTP access is one of the standard features that you’ll be able to take advantage of. All our plans come with an unlimited FTP account allowance, so you will be able to create as many accounts as you need from the Hepsia hosting Control Panel with which you will be able to manage your web content as well. All the FTP accounts will be listed alphabetically in the Control Panel and in case you do not need a particular account anymore, you can simply delete it and stop persons who have used it before from connecting to it again. This option is especially useful in case you use the services of a designer or in case an IT specialist departs your firm and you don’t want them to access the website files anymore. A detailed Help library that includes video tutorials will help you manage your FTP accounts in case you do not have previous experience.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers
None of the
VPS servers that we offer includes any limitation on the total number of FTP accounts that you can have at any given time, so you can create a separate account for any site hosted on your VPS, irrespective of whether it is under a domain or sub-domain. In addition, it doesn’t matter which hosting Control Panel you’ll select when you order – DirectAdmin, Hepsia or cPanel, since an FTP server will be set up on your virtual machine at the time of the configuration of any of them. If you want different people to access one and the same folder using their own set of log-in details, for instance, it’ll take a few clicks of the mouse to set up a separate FTP account for each of them. Deleting an existing account or changing the folder that it can connect to is just as simple and you won’t need to deal with any complications, even if you have no prior experience in such matters.
