Algorized Presents AFM at CIIE 2026 in Shanghai: The Foundation Model That Gives Machines an Understanding of People, Across Industries

One model for robots, buildings and devices, running live at CIIE on data from a single standard wireless sensor.
SHANGHAI, Nov. 4, 2026 — Foundation models gave machines an understanding of language and images. The Algorized Foundation Model (AFM) gives them an understanding of people. Algorized, a global company developing a foundation model, presents Algorized Foundation Model (AFM) at the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE 2026) in Shanghai from 5 to 10 November. Algorized takes part as an invited guest in the start-up exhibition area hosted by BMW Technology Office China.
Algorized was identified by BMW Technology Office China through its outside-in scouting activities because of the company's distinctive offering in human-aware perception for Physical AI. The invitation to present at CIIE 2026 provides visibility and an opportunity for technology exchange. Participation alone does not mean that any collaboration with BMW exists or that BMW endorses or validates Algorized's technology. AFM and every statement in this release about its capabilities are Algorized's own.
Algorized's research began with a search-and-rescue question: can a wireless signal find a heartbeat in earthquake rubble? That work grew into a foundation model for everyday settings. Robot arms and mobile robots now share floors with workers, buildings respond to their occupants, and connected devices react to presence and activity. Each has typically had its own perception system, built for one task. Algorized builds the understanding of people once, as a foundation model that every new product can start from.
AFM works from standard Wi-Fi, UWB or mmWave sensors and runs at the edge, on the device itself. The sensor sends out low-power wireless signals that pass through clothing and reflect off the body. From those reflections, AFM tells a person from an object, locates and tracks each person in real time, and picks up the sub-millimeter chest movements that come with each breath and heartbeat. It perceives people through darkness, smoke and dust, and runs across sensor types and silicon platforms, so robot, machine and device makers can build on one perception foundation.
Working from wireless signals alone, AFM understands people by how they move and breathe, so every person stays anonymous: privacy preserved by physics, not by policy.
The applications run across industries. China installed 354,000 industrial robots in 2025, 59% of all installations worldwide, according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) World Robotics 2026 report. In robotics and production, AFM makes a robot arm or a mobile robot aware of the people around it, so it can adapt its speed and path while workers share the floor. Sense, anticipate, adapt. In smart buildings, the same model senses presence and people count, so heating, ventilation and cooling can follow actual occupancy. In connected devices, it turns breathing and heart rate into non-diagnostic well-being features.
On the stand, AFM runs live on data from one standard wireless sensor. As a visitor walks up, AFM classifies them as a person and tracks them in real time. A simulated robot arm adjusts its speed to their distance, waits when they come close and resumes its task as they step back. A visitor who stands still sees their breathing and heart rate on screen. "Everyone assumes we built five models. We built one, and every machine that works around people can build on it. Being selected by BMW for the CIIE 2026 showcase lets us show it live in China, the world's largest market for industrial robots," said Natalya Lopareva, CEO and founder of Algorized.

About Algorized
Algorized builds the edge-native nervous system for Physical AI. One foundation model senses human presence, vital signs, motion, and intent through occlusion - delivering real-time human-aware perception from standard wireless sensors, where cameras and light-based systems go blind. The model ships as two products: a foundation model stack embedded on partner silicon across automotive, spaces, and industrial applications, and a quality-managed safety stack for human-robot collaboration. Backed by the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund and rooted in proprietary Swiss research, Algorized partners with silicon manufacturers and industrial OEMs across robotics, automotive, and smart spaces.
